The Castle of Jack Nicklaus
Jack Nicklaus’ business group is in discussions to take over Long Island, New York’s Oheka Castle. The estate, as well as Cold Spring Country Club, would be turned over to Nicklaus and developer Stanley Gale in a 99-year-lease.
The property is the second-largest house in the United States behind the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, and has been featured in movies like Citizen Kane and It’s Kind of a Funny Story. Under the proposed deal, Nicklaus’ company would funnel $20 million in improvements to the golf course — which is a Seth Raynor design — and would transform Oheka Castle into its clubhouse.
