It would seem like a priceless opportunity to have this modern day genius sitting next you while breaking bread with a vodka martini and few olives.

Recently at the 18th annual auction for lunch with the Berkshire Hathaway chairman, an anonymous fan bid $2,679,001 for the honor. Last year, the winning bid was $3,456,789. All in all,  more than $25 million has been raised for its efforts in benefitting the San Francisco charity, Glide. Glide offers free meals, health care and other services to homeless and low-income people in San Francisco.

We know you’re wondering – does lunch with Warren Buffett feature a buffet?

Not quite.

The winner can invite up to seven friends for lunch with Mr. Buffett at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York. The steakhouse’s founder makes an annual donation to Glide.

The winning price has held above $1 million since 2008. The auction moved online in 2003, allowing international fans of Mr. Buffett to participate.
