Is it time to return to The Office?
NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt isn’t saying, “No,” to a reboot, declining to answer a question about the status of the project on a recent call.
The rumor mill began to turn last summer about NBC potentially bringing back the Emmy-winning comedy with Greg Daniels — who developed and ran the U.S. version of the British series — at the helm and possibly a new cast.
“We often talk about The Office, I’ve talked to Greg four times over the past few years. It’s always, ‘maybe someday but not now’,” Greenblatt told Deadline last August. “There is certainly an open invitation but we don’t have anything happening right now. If he wants to do it, I would do it.”
Details have since surfaced that include the idea of a mix of new and old cast members sat the same Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Pennsylvania., branch as the original show minus Steve Carell and his Michael Scott character. Several cast members have expressed interest in a renewed series.
